The Insect People are all friends, every one of them with every other, and so they had no need of a king, but the fairies demanded that they name a king for the sake of negotiations.

After the chosen king went off on an adventure, another one took his place. The usurper king offered to step down when the true king returned, but the insect people became divided over who should rule.

They nearly came to war, but when the Insect King surveyed the battlefield, he saw only friends and no enemies. He refused to fight, and instead threw down his weapon, which lead to all of the other insect people doing the same.
